October 14 will see Mercedes-Benz IndiaLimited (MBIL) launch yet another model this year. The German manufacturer promised 15 new cars in 2015 and will continue to stand by its word with the new addition of the GLE SUV to India.
SUV will be available with a choice of two CDI engines both of which are more efficient variants of the one's found in the outgoing models; a lower spec 2.1-litre unit that makes 204PS of power and a more powerful 3.0-litre V6 that makes 258PS of power.
New GLE’s will come equipped with 9-speed automatic gearboxes rather than the 7-speed ones used previously.
The interiors of the GLE SUV borrow from the S-lass luxury sedan. The Mercedes GLE will rival the the BMW X5, Volvo XC90, and the Audi Q7.
The SUV will be produced at the company's plant in Chakan, Pune.
